In short: Elite Construction Group is an interior general contractor working in all five boroughs of New York City. Every project in the city follows NYC Department of Buildings rules, and some areas add more: landmark districts need Landmarks Preservation Commission approval for permitted work, and co-ops usually require an alteration agreement. Elite plans those steps before demolition and quotes every job after a free site walk.
By borough
Our work across the five boroughs
The same citywide rules apply in every borough. These are the differences that come up most.

Manhattan
Retail build-outs, office renovations, and co-op and condo renovations.
Parts of Manhattan are Landmarks Preservation Commission historic districts, such as SoHo-Cast Iron. In a landmark building or historic district, interior work that needs a DOB permit also needs an LPC permit.
Our SoHo retail fit-out is in Manhattan.
Brooklyn
Storefronts and offices, plus renovations in houses, co-ops, and condos.
Brooklyn also has LPC historic districts, such as Brooklyn Heights. In the Greenpoint-Williamsburg anti-harassment areas, removing a wall of any size in a single-room-occupancy dwelling unit needs a DOB permit.
Queens
Retail and office build-outs, plus renovations in co-op and condo apartments and in one- and two-family houses.
Home improvement work over $200 on a residence requires a DCWP-licensed contractor, as it does citywide.
The Bronx
Commercial interiors and residential renovations in co-ops, condos, and houses.
Work before 7 a.m., after 6 p.m., or on weekends needs a DOB After Hours Variance, filed at least three business days ahead.
Staten Island
Residential renovations, including one- and two-family houses, plus commercial interiors.
DOB charges $600 to legalize unpermitted work in a one- or two-family home, and $6,000 in other buildings.

FAQ
New York City questions
Do you work in all five boroughs?
Yes. Elite works in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Most of our work is in New York City.
My building is in a historic district. What changes?
In a landmark building or historic district, interior work that needs a DOB permit, or that affects the exterior, also needs a Landmarks Preservation Commission permit. We plan that before demolition.
Does my project need a DOB permit?
It depends on the work. Painting, plastering, and new cabinets do not; structural, exit, and fire-rated wall work does. See which NYC renovations need a DOB permit.
Can work happen at night or on weekends?
Yes, with a DOB After Hours Variance filed at least three business days ahead. See how After Hours Variances work.
How do I check a contractor’s license in NYC?
Use the DCWP license check for home improvement work and DOB’s License Search for electricians and plumbers. See how to check a contractor’s license.
How much will my project cost?
Elite does not publish prices, because costs change and every space is different. Call (845) 721-2515 or request a free site walk for a written, line-item estimate.
